While Chet Holmgren has the chance to end up being a generational player and a cornerstone piece to help the Oklahoma City Thunder win a championship some day, there was an expectation that he may struggle early in his NBA career — like most rookies do. He looked fantastic in NBA Summer League and during the preseason, but real regular season action is completely different.
It will take several months to really get a grasp on Holmgren’s true impact for the Thunder, and several years before we can really determine what his ceiling might be. But through the first three games of the 7-footer’s career, there’s real reason for optimism.
