They had Australia on the ropes at 92 for 7 chasing 291 as Afghanistan’s eclectic attack was all over their mighty opponents. This was an Afghanistan team genuinely believing they could topple Australia in conditions to their liking. It did not matter that Afghanistan had only won just one World Cup match before this edition compared to the five-time champions who had started to build momentum in the tournament.
