Vail, Colorado, has no shortage of notable landmarks. There’s the mountain itself with world-class skiing and snowboarding, the European-style pedestrian village and Gore Creek, which cuts through the heart of the resort town itself.
But for locals and visitors alike, an unusual condominium building also fills the bill: the iconic dome home. The three-unit residence came to fruition in the mid-1980s―no doubt drawing inspiration from the earlier works of architect R. Buckminster Fuller―who found the shape able to withstand extreme weather while being energy- and resource-efficient. Those economies aside, it has also proven popular with Vrbo vacationers and offers significant investment appeal.
