The British government on Tuesday appealed to its citizens in Sudan to make their way to an air base north of Khartoum “as soon as possible” as it scrambled to rescue thousands trapped by the recent fighting.
UK passport holders were urged to make their way to Wadi Saeedna airfield, about 40km north of the centre of the Sudanese capital. “Flights leave from Wadi Saeedna airfield,” the Foreign Office said in a travel alert posted on Twitter. “Please travel to this location as soon as possible to be processed for the flight.”
