Annika Sorenstam says she was surprised and “extremely honored” by the invitation to become a member at Augusta National Golf Club, the home of the annual Masters Tournament. Sorenstam is the first female professional golfer to join the membership ranks at the renowned club in Augusta, Georgia, which first allowed women as members in 2012.
“It was a surprise, I must say that,” said Sorenstam, who won 72 times on the LPGA Tour. “I was so excited. It was one of the happiest days of my golf life.”
