Billionaire investor Charles Johnson took the owners of a proposed clam shack on Nantucket to court last week in an attempt to invalidate the restaurant’s liquor license—the latest development in an ongoing battle between the applicants of the restaurant and the well-heeled neighbors trying to block it.

Johnson, the former chairman and CEO of investment firm Franklin Resources, filed a lawsuit in Nantucket Superior Court on Friday against the proponents of the Straight Wharf Fish Market, a proposed clam shack and restaurant in downtown Nantucket, as well as the town and the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission.
