Erik Smolinski had been self-educating on finance since high school, when one of his teachers recommended he look into investing.
“It was the first time I ever heard that term,” said Smolinski, who had been working odd jobs since he was 12 and had accumulated some savings. “I never heard anybody talk about investing in my family before. I had no idea what it was.”
