Occidental Petroleum (NYSE:OXY) launched construction of its first direct-air carbon capture hub in west Texas at a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The newly-named Stratos plant, part of Occidental’s (OXY) ambition to develop 100 direct-air capture facilities worldwide by 2035, is scheduled to launch in 2025 with an initial capacity to capture 500K tons/year of carbon dioxide, and could scale up to capture 1M tons/year of CO2.
