Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is trying to rebuild the company after a year of layoffs and cost cuts following Discovery’s acquisition of WarnerMedia — a challenge made all the harder by a soft ad market and declining linear TV ratings.
The task of grabbing a greater share of that ad market falls to chief US advertising sales officer Jon Steinlauf. Steinlauf was one of Zaslav’s Discovery execs who got more responsibility after the merger. He’d led its ad sales since 2018, having joined Discovery through its acquisition of Scripps Networks. He also has Warner experience, having served as VP of ad sales for Turner Broadcasting’s TBS and TNT networks in the ’90s.
